ATSIBooklet.gifThis valuable resource explores the interpreting and access needs of Deaf people who are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander in Far North Queensland. Essential for any human services provider seeking to engage with clients from the Indigenous Deaf community of Far North Queensland.

About the Author: Suzannah O’Reilly is a CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) and has lived in Cairns for twenty years. She is a NAATI accredited Auslan P.P Interpreter and has many years experience interpreting for Indigenous Deaf clients in the legal and medical field and also providing training to FNQ organisations. Suzannah is a member of the FNQ Regional Disability Council. She is also a third year Bachelor of Psychology student at James Cook University.

This resource was proudly supported by ASLIA National and was published with initial funding from Disability Services Qld and Deaf Children Australia. The booklet was launched at the Cairns Winter School in 2005.
