Congratulations Karen our President!

As part of the 30th birthday celebrations NAATI hosted a gala event last night at the Kings Hotel in Perth to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to both NAATI and the T & I industry. I am delighted to inform you that Karen Bontempo who was one of a number of nominees in Western Australia was declared the WA winner and was presented with an impressive trophy in front of 100 special guests and VIPs. Nominations for the Awards were invited from all spoken and sign language interpreters and translators throughout WA.

NAATI will be hosting similar Award ceremonies in each state throughout Australia and Western Australia was chosen as the first state for NAATI to acknowledged and congratulate individuals who have contributed to the T & I industry.

For those of us who know Karen are very familiar with the commitment and dedication she has given to the interpreting profession over the last 17 years are delighted with her acknowledgement, she is indeed a very worthy winner.

On behalf of ASLIA (WA) I would like to extend our sincere congratulations to Karen we are very proud to have had the privilege of knowing and working with her.
