Winterschool Perth 2006 Final Report Now Complete

ASLIA (WA) were very proud to present Winterschool 2006 in Perth.

The ASLIA Winterschool 2006 was hosted by ASLIA WA for the first time. The Winter School has just finished and was a roaring success! A big slap on the back for the ASLIA WA Winter School Organising Committee for a fantastic job!

The Winter School was held at the Goodearth Hotel in the beautiful city of Perth. For the first time, an International Keynote speaker, Ms Elizabeth Winston from the US, was invited to address the conference.

Dr Elizabeth Winston is the Director of Project TIEM (Teaching Interpreting Educators and Mentors) at Northeastern University in Boston, MA, USA.

An educator and consultant in educational linguistics, discourse analysis, and interpreting, Dr Winston holds a PhD in Applied Linguistics from Georgetown University and an MA in Linguistics with a focus in American Sign Language from Gallaudet University. She is a consultant in educational interpreting as well as an interpreter.

A teacher of linguistics, interpretation, and educational interpreting nationally and internationally, Dr Winston is also a well-published author on educational interpreting and on mentoring issues for sign language interpreters and it was an honour to have her join us at Winterschool 2006 in Perth, Western Australia.
