Revalidation Revolution! PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 07 December 2007

naatirevalid.gifASLIA National has collaborated with providers and users of Auslan interpreting services to create the Revalidation Revolution! to demonstrate commitment to best practice and sustainability of the interpreting profession throughout Australia.

The Revalidation Revolution! supports NAATI’s new Revalidation of Accreditation system, “Revalidation – Keeping a Professional Edge”, that will ensure practitioners undertake ongoing professional practice in the field, participate in education and/or professional development and maintain linguistic competence and ethical awareness.

ASLIA National recently sent all members an open letter explaining our position on Revlidation - please click to download:

Please find below a brief summary about the Revalidation of Accreditation system.

If you are not part of the system yet, we trust that you will consider your own commitment to best practice by embracing it and joining the Revalidation Revolution! – just like the ASLIA National Executive.

Revalidation of Accreditation will automatically apply to interpreters accredited after 1 January 2007 and those accredited before 1 January 2007 will have the option to opt in.  The Revalidation Revolution! strongly encourages all interpreters to be part of the Revalidation of Accreditation system.  Further, many providers and users of interpreting services (as shown below) who are supporters of the Revalidation Revolution! have also agreed to favourably allocate interpreting assignments from 1 January 2008 to interpreters who are part of the new Revalidation of Accreditation system.  If you were accredited before 1 January 2007 and have chosen to opt in, please send a copy of your letter from NAATI to the relevant organisation(s).
