ASLIA National & Deaf Australia recently held a most successful Interpreting Forum on February 15th in Sydney. Over 80 people attended the event, and these included ASLIA members, interpreters, deaf consumers, Deaf Australia members, government representatives and other interested parties. A panel of four presenters highlighted some important issues and solutions regarding Auslan interpreting. The panel consisted of: Kyle Miers - Deafness Australia, Marcel Leneham - ASLIA, Rebecca Ladd & Marc Curtis - AFDS & Della Goswell - Trainer. After each presentation, questions & comments from the floor were encouraged. A joint taskforce will be establised to capitalise and continue on the momentum of the forum, with a view to researching and finding solutions to many of the issues raised. Downloads: Forum Flyer:
