Deaf Relay Interpreter Certification Project
Della Goswell has been employed by ASLIA ) as a project officer to develop a certification process for Deaf Relay Interpreters.

The following is a summary of her Progress Report 2 - April/May 2006:

  • This second stage has involved the revision of original draft competencies based on the feedback received to date, and the drafting of an assessment tool plus proposed outline of the certification process.
  • A literature review was undertaken in relation to interpreter assessment.
  • Key Consultations are ongoing and include: NABS, state Deaf Societies, individual Deaf Relay Interpreters, AAD, NAATI and ASLIA National and State branch executives.
  • The June report will include a revised (and final) draft of the competencies, a consolidation of the assessment tool and process.
