Belinda Roberts

Belinda spent much of her youth with the Deaf community in Northern NSW sitting her NAATI in 2009 and becoming a certified interpreter in 2017. Belinda works for a range of Auslan/English interpreting services, as well as working in adult education and as a Disability Support Coordinator (Deaf and HoH) for TAFENSW (North).

Belinda has experience in developing educational products (including Auslan and interpreting) for adult learning and managing multidisciplinary teams. Holding a Bachelor of Clinical Science and currently undertaking the Graduate Diploma of Auslan English Interpreting at Macquarie University, she brings a solid focus on outcome based projects.

When not working, Belinda enjoys being with her young family in the great outdoors travelling whenever possible.

Will Tapp

Committee Member

Will is an early career interpreter based in Sydney’s Inner West. They love working in the community, after having worked as an educational (SLSO) Interpreter for students completing their HSC.

Will has a background in Information Technology. Having worked in the corporate sector, primarily in advertisement, and has a Graduate Certificate in Cloud Computing and Virtualisation. Will joined ASLIA to provide knowledge and expertise to the improvement of technology, IT, and to ensure smooth running of the ASLIA website and email systems.

When not interpreting, Will enjoys swimming, cycling, gaming (video and tabletop) and watching stand up comedy.

Daniel Hately

Daniel Hately is a proud native Auslan user and has been working as a Certified Interpreter since 2008. He has completed Dip. Auslan, Dip. Interpreting & PGDip. Auslan English Interpreting studies, and also completed specialised training in Mental Health Interpreting & Media and Emergency Broadcast Interpreting. Daniel is passionate about Educational Interpreting and sits on the Interpreting in Educational Settings (IES) sub-committee of the ASLIA Board. Daniel looks forward to contributing to the work of ASLIA NSW/ACT and supporting its members.

David Parker

Committee Member

David Parker grew up within the Deaf community in Sydney all his life. He is a Deaf person from a hearing family. He has just discovered that he has an Auslan interpreter as a distant cousin and at least 6 deaf people from both sides of his family!

He really enjoys translating English into Auslan and storytelling / explaining things in Auslan. He has a Deaf wife, Jitka and three grown up hearing daughters who all can use Auslan.

His background is in software engineering from Uni of NSW but for the last 10 years, he is working as a community manager for a small deaf and hard of hearing community centre. He does occasional Auslan tutoring and teaching for Deaf Connect and within the TAFE sector.

When he is not working, he enjoys country trips with Jitka and attending as many Road Cycling Classics annually. He also likes to organise AuslanX seminars for the national deaf community and small social rides for his deaf friends.

Linda Warby

Linda began interpreting officially in 2003 after gaining her Recognised Deaf Interpreter credential with NAATI. She then completed the Diploma of Interpreting and achieved Certified Provisional Interpreter in 2017. Many years of teaching Literacy/Numeracy to Deaf adults has widened her skills to encounter ranges of clients’ communication modes and she loves the challenges working as an interpreter.
She loves doing Taiko drumming, Zentangle drawing, macrame and travelling in Asian countries.
