NOTE: Update regarding Covid-19 (as of 14 April 2020)
Dear ASLIA Members, Colleagues, Friends and more,
The ANC 2020 Organising Committee and the ASLIA Board regretfully advises that the ASLIA National Conference 2020 is being postponed.
This decision reflects our primary concerns for the health and well-being of all involved and our careful consideration of the recommendations from the World Health Organization and the directives issued by the Australian Government.
We plan to continue the same theme Strength in Diversity and hope you are able to join us for the rescheduled conference ANC 2021 held 10 – 13 September 2021.
The following outlines what this date change means for you.
REGISTRATION
For those that have already registered. Your registration is still valid for ANC2021. We will transfer all registrations to the new dates, at the same price. No further action will be required from you. However, should you not be able to attend and wish to cancel your registration because of this change and have your fee refunded, please let us know ASAP by email to anc-coordinator@aslia.com.au and we will refund you within 2 weeks of your advice.
SPEAKERS
ANC2020 keynote speakers and authors of paper presentations are strongly encouraged to participate in ANC2021. Speakers will be asked to confirm their intention to participate in the ANC2021 now. Later this year the speakers will have the opportunity to submit an updated abstract to ensure that their content is current.
Our Scientific Coordinator will be in touch with all who submitted presentations to discuss options further.
ACCOMMODATION
If you have booked your accommodation, we suggest you contact the venue to see if they are able transfer your booking to the new date.
FLIGHTS
We recommend you contact the travel agent who booked your flights to understand your individual cancellation options. It is likely you will be liable to pay some fees with your airline.
You may like to consider the following:
- If you wish to cancel your flights please do so as soon as possible. You may incur a cancellation fee, but failure to cancel will result in paying the full fare.
- Check with the airline directly whether they will waive the change or cancellation fees given the circumstances.
- Check with your travel insurance company if they will cover the fees associated with cancellations or changes.
AUSLAN TEACHERS CONFERENCE
ASLIA and the Auslan Teachers Organising Committee are in the process of discussing what will be happening here. More information to come soon.
IN CONCLUSION
The ANC OC Committee and ASLIA will provide further updates for the rescheduled Conference.

This is an unusual situation; we appreciate your patience whilst we work through the next steps and sincerely hope you will join us for ANC 2021 in September 2021!
