  • ASLIAQ 2024 ‘Auslan to English – Translation and Transcription ONLINE PD

    $50.00 (member price: $25.00)

ASLIAQ 2024 Auslan to English Translation PD

    ONLINE

This workshop aims at increasing the skills and knowledge of interpreters already skilled at Auslan to English interpreting, by introducing them to concepts in translation and how those concepts can transfer into the creation of transcripts of Auslan videos, for use as stand-alone transcripts, as transcripts that accompany the Auslan video, or as transcripts that are used for captions and/or voice-overs of Auslan media. While interpreters at any level are welcome, the workshop is aimed at those who already have the skills to interpret Auslan to English with a high degree of accuracy.

Presenter: Christy Filipich is a practising Certified Interpreter in Auslan and English based in Walyalup (Fremantle) WA, with over 20 years’ experience in the field. She holds several qualifications in Translation & Interpreting, Disability Studies, and Training & Assessment. Christy has also been an interpreter trainer for the last 10 years, and has held numerous positions on ASLIA (WA) as well as other industry organisations. She has a passion for supporting interpreting practitioners and the industry to ensure the Deaf community has access at all levels of the wider community.
