Step behind the scenes and into the fast‑paced world of screen production. Lights, Camera, Action! is your chance to learn what really happens on film and TV sets — and what interpreters need to thrive in these dynamic, high‑pressure environments.
Facilitated by Sam Martin — an award‑winning filmmaker, creative producer, researcher and consultant — this session brings insider knowledge directly to interpreters and students across Australia. Sam will be joined by special guests including:
- Sofya, an award winning multidisciplinary artist, writer, director and researcher whose creative practice spans forms and genres
- Nathan, an Australian Deaf actor, writer and transport crew member with lived experience across multiple corners of the industry
Together, they’ll unpack production workflows, on‑set etiquette, communication demands, and the unique role interpreters play in supporting Deaf professionals and creatives on screen.
Held online via Zoom, this event will be Auslan interpreted and recorded, ensuring accessibility for all attendees.
