Feeling Safe at Work
Livestreamed
Hosted by ASLIA Victoria and Echo Interpreting
Thu 08/11/2018 | Starts: 6:30 pm | Ends: 9:00 pm | State: National, VIC/TAS | Venue: John Pierce Centre, 25 High Street, Prahran

This event will explore the different ways interpreters can protect themselves on the job, particularly when faced with tricky or dangerous situations and/ or clients. Dr Maree Madden shares with us tips about:
-Physical safety (where to place oneself safely in volatile or risky settings)
-Self care (supervision, debriefing, mentoring, vicarious trauma)
-Reporting (to agencies, to police)
-Saying no (how to assert working conditions or say no to a job you don’t feel confident taking)
-Basic self defense skills (with Julian Hertan)
