ASLITA – 2025 Interpreting with Care
Livestreamed
Hosted by ASLITA
Fri 10/10/2025 | Starts: 7:00 pm | Ends: 9:00 pm | State: National | Venue: Zoom
To acknowledge the importance of mental health, ASLITA will be providing two PDs throughout the Mental Health Awareness week (4th – 11th October) that are specifically tailored towards the aspects of interpreters and translators’ perspectives, experiences and responsibilities that can differ. Both of these workshops will establish a safe and confidential space for participants so that our presenters can pass on their knowledge to help interpreters look after themselves.
‘Interpreting with care: Supporting wellbeing through reflective practice and practitioner partnerships’ is designed as a sister PD to the Deaf Interpreters and Translators PD, ‘Safe Space – What does this look like for Deaf Interpreters?’ (12/10/25)
For this PD, we are fortunate to invite two wonderfully experienced professionals from within the Deaf mental health space. Zoie Nott is a clinical psychologist who works with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals and is an emerging Auslan interpreter. She will be discussing why and how reflective practice can be used. We also have Dr Christina Clarke, a clinical psychologist with over 25 years experience working within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing space, providing her expertise on developing positive partnerships and self-reflection.
