Belinda Roberts (NSW)

Belinda spent much of her youth with the Deaf community in Northern NSW sitting her NAATI in 2009 and becoming a certified interpreter in 2017. Belinda works for a range of Auslan/English interpreting services, as well as working in adult education and as a Disability Support Coordinator (Deaf and HoH) for TAFENSW (North).

Belinda has experience in developing educational products (including Auslan and interpreting) for adult learning and managing multidisciplinary teams. Holding a Bachelor of Clinical Science and currently undertaking the Graduate Diploma of Auslan English Interpreting at Macquarie University, she brings a solid focus on outcome based projects.

When not working, Belinda enjoys being with her young family in the great outdoors travelling whenever possible.

Carla Anderson (Vic)

Carla, a registered Deaf Interpreter and Mentor has been working in the field for over 30 years in various capacities, including:

• Management
• Community Development
• Interpreting and
• Advocacy

She is very passionate in the area of Deafblind and strives to ensure that people with Deafblindness receive high quality services. In particular, Carla has a focus on ensuring the Deafblind community receive equitable access within the interpreting profession. Her aim is to ensure a much-improved relationship between interpreters (both deaf and hearing) and those within the Deafblind community

Carla is very much looking forward to working with ASLIA Board members, getting to know them all. And contributing to our profession overall.

Sheree Murray (ACT)

Sheree is a Certified Provisional Interpreter from Canberra who qualified in 2014. Her passion is community! She came into the interpreting space wanting to be ‘that one more interpreter available’ so the Deaf Community didn’t have to miss out, as is often the case in her location. Currently, in an effort to grow her network and to improve her skills, she is halfway through the Graduate Diploma of Interpreting at Macquarie University.

In her previous careers, Sheree has been a Science & Mathematics Teacher and also a Public Servant, working with the Australian Government. As a strong believer in the value of community, Sheree has always sought to give back to the communities where she participates. This has involved various committee and volunteers’ roles in several community-based groups over the years.

To blow off steam, Sheree enjoys charging around the hockey field in the winter months and bush walks in the warmer months.

Sheree has represented the ACT as a Director on the National board since 2017 and stepped up to support the ASLIA NSW/ACT committee from 2018.

Christy Filipich (WA)

Christy is a practising Auslan/English Certified Interpreter in Walyalup (Fremantle), WA with 20 years’ experience in the field. She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Auslan-English Interpreting, a Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies, and a Master in Disability Studies (Sensory Disability). Christy also holds a Cert IV in Training and Assessing and has been an interpreter trainer for many years. She has been an ASLIA member since the being an Auslan student in the late 1990’s, and on the committee of ASLIA (WA) in various capacities since 2004 and has a passion for supporting interpreting practitioners and the industry to ensure the Deaf community has access.
