To acknowledge the importance of mental health, ASLITA will be providing two PDs throughout the Mental Health Awareness week (4th – 11^th October) that are specifically tailored towards the aspects of interpreters and translators’ perspectives, experiences and responsibilities that can differ. Both of these workshops will establish a safe and confidential space for participants so that our presenters can pass on their knowledge to help interpreters look after themselves.

‘Safe Space – What does this look like for Deaf Interpreters?’ is open to Deaf Interpreters and Deaf RPTs only. For this PD, we are fortunate to invite two wonderfully experienced Deaf professionals who have worked within the mental health sector for many years. Irene Holub is based in Australia and has a wealth of knowledge as a Deaf Counsellor and founder of AuslanSoul. We also have Herbert Klein who will be joining us from the U.K. in order to provide his expertise and advice on navigating through the mental health space within the NHS (National Health Service) in England. Both presenters will be discussing the following topics below and participants will have the opportunity to ask questions.
