Susannah Lee
Susannah Lee has been interpreting since 2006, and completed the Postgraduate Diploma in Auslan/English Interpreting in 2010. She has worked in various roles around the Deaf Community including policy writing and project management, and can be glimpsed teaching interpreting to both VET and University students. She wrote a PhD. thesis on novels of the American Renaissance and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from a German university.
Bek Cramp
Bek Cramp completed her first VRI assignment in 2007 and since that date, this mode of interpreting has been a staple in her schedule. This year, Bek has completed a Master of Research thesis on code switching and Interpreting in Islamic religious settings. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Diploma of Education (2008), a Graduate Diploma of Auslan-English Interpreting (2018), and a Master of Translation and Interpreting Studies (2020), all from Macquarie University. She is a NAATI Certified Auslan-English interpreter, first gaining accreditation in 2002, and her interpreting career has included work both on-site and online in community, corporate and conference environments. Her research interests include interpreting practice, cultural and linguistic competence in religious settings, and lexical development for specialised domains.
Alex Notsis
Alex Notsis has been a part of the deaf community for the better part of 10 years, first introduced through his partner who is deaf. After working in different roles at Vicdeaf (now Expression Australia) he went on to complete his Diploma of Interpreting in 2019. He successfully obtained his NAATI Certified Provisional Interpreter in April 2020 and his Certified Interpreter qualification in October 2023 and has now begun studying the Post-Grad Diploma at Macquarie Uni.
Alex’s introduction to VRI work was during the Victoria lockdowns of 2020, as fate would have it, his love and skill of all things technological would be a great aid. Now Alex finds most but not all his work is onsite, often shifting modalities throughout any one day.
