    New Year, New P-Platers! They’re back, baby, for another year of ethical dilemmas, interpreting challenges and social chats, and this year, there’s the wonderful Madison Rossetto joining the team. This year the focus will be on self-care, working with over 65s, Deaf+, theatre/music interpreting, and the difficulties interpreters face.

     

    P-Platers is a social group for early career interpreters and soon-to-be NAATI certified provisional interpreters. This is a group for ASLIA members (including associate members) from any ASLIA state Association who:

    • have completed their Diploma of Interpreting but are not yet certified, or
    • are Certified Provisional Interpreters – CPI and CPDI

    P-Platers is about peer social support, shared learning and professional networking opportunities such as:

    • Share tips and tricks
    • Discuss ethical quandaries
    • Learn and benefit from other people’s experiences
    • Ask those questions in a safe space
    • Meet new people and build your professional networks
    • Practice your skills
    • Earn NAATI points

    Cost: FREE

Fear not, for our upcoming workshop, “Did You Really Just Sign That?” is here to equip you with the knowledge and strategies needed to navigate this delicate terrain.

    Navigating the world of Sexual Education requires a nuanced understanding of the vocabulary commonly covered in Health and Physical Education subjects. Gavin Rose-Mundy and Megan Bytheway will provide you with insights on how to maintain professionalism and safeguard your well-being while interpreting topics that may be considered sensitive or explicit.

    Join us for an engaging and informative session that empowers you to navigate the intricate landscape of Sexual Education using Auslan.

    This PD is an Auslan immersive event. Content will be presented in Auslan only with the goal of providing a conducive environment for language learning.
