    ASLITAQ 2025 P-Platers May

    New Year, New P-Platers! Look who’s back, back again, for another year of ethical dilemmas, interpreting challenges and social chats, and this year, there’s the fantastic Emily Christofferson and Pauline Hansen (nah not that one) joining the team. This year the focus will be on those crazy things that pop up as you grow into your new skills and the difficulties interpreters face…

    P-Platers is a social group for early career interpreters and soon-to-be NAATI certified provisional interpreters. This is a group for ASLITA members (including associate members) from any ASLITA state Association who:

    • have completed their Diploma of Interpreting but are not yet certified, or
    • are Certified Provisional Interpreters – CPI and CPDI

    P-Platers is about peer social support, shared learning and professional networking opportunities such as:

    • Share tips and tricks
    • Discuss ethical quandaries
    • Learn and benefit from other people’s experiences
    • Ask those questions in a safe space
    • Meet new people and build your professional networks
    • Practice your skills
    • Earn NAATI points

    Cost: FREE

    Sessions will be held on Zoom 630pm – 730pm QLD time. Upcoming dates TBA

  • Ethics: a masterclass for Deaf and hearing interpreters and translators

    $90.00 (member price: $45.00)

    This masterclass is aimed at experienced Deaf and hearing interpreters and translators – but all are welcome!

    Join Natt Kull and Chevoy Sweeney for an in-depth all-day session which will expand your understanding of our Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Professional Conduct, and the nuances of the Code’s practical application in our everyday work. There will be plenty of opportunities to discuss issues and consider options for putting ethics into practice across a range of settings.

    The masterclass will be run in Auslan and is available in person only. The masterclass will be repeated in Canberra on 25 October 2025 – more information to come.

    If you live outside of Sydney or Canberra and would like to attend – or if you live in Sydney and have a room to offer for a night to a colleague – please get in touch with Dani at the email address below.

    Join your ASLITAQ Committee at the monthly general meeting.  This the room where it all happens, this is where to discuss and decide all things advocacy, professional development and social events. Attending a meeting is a great way to get to know your committee and to have your say about PDs and events and get involved.

    Attending a general meeting is an opportunity to gain NAATI revalidation points.

    We have a Deaf Lens session. This session is for Deaf interpreters and translators only.
