ASLIA (WA) 2022 AGM
$0.00Join us in welcoming guest speaker Drisana Levitzke-Gray, talking to us about her interpreting journey into becoming a Deaf interpreter with 3 credentials working in Auslan, American Sign Language, International Sign and English, and the various types of assignments she does such as TV Broadcasts and Parliament interpreting. More importantly, this presentation will dive into expanding the understanding of the need for Deaf interpreters in all range of settings, what specific set of skills are required to be a feed (co-interpreter), and what the future hold for Deaf interpreters. This event also provides the opportunity for an interactive Q&A throughout and will be a brave space to talk about compatibility, allyship, embracing the evolving mediums and platforms for interpreting, working with Deaf/Hearing teams, and the positive impact of having more visibility of Deaf interpreters.
ASLIA (WA) AGM will start immediately after our guest speaker.
Food and Drinks can be purchased at The Herdy to be enjoyed throughout the event.
This event will be in Auslan only.
Face to Face event only.

ASLIAQ – 2022 – Mental Health First Aid Online Learning
$200.00 (member price: $150.00)Online Blended Learning
Mental Health First Aid
As part of Queensland Mental Health Week, ASLIAQ is supporting Queensland interpreters to gain a Standard Mental Health First Aid certificate.
As interpreters, we can find ourselves in situations where we meet people who we are concerned have a mental health problem but we aren’t sure how to respond or don’t feel equipped to provide first aid. Mental Health First Aid is about having the knowledge and skills to offer first aid for someone experiencing a mental health problem or crisis.
As a community of interpreters, who can experience challenging situations, it’s important we know how to support each other and offer first aid.
We are offering:
An online blended learning course for regional and remote Qld interpreters
