What was the last on-the-job ethical decision you made? What value/s in the ASLIA Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Professional Conduct did you rely on to inform your thinking processes and behaviours? If the same scenario happened again tomorrow, would you make the same decisions or different ones? In two short hours, we will look at the ASLIA Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Professional Conduct then work in small groups to examine real-life scenarios, identify issues and decision-making options.
Presented in ENGLISH with Auslan interpreters.

Ethics World Cafe$120.00 (member price: $60.00)
Ethics can be defined as a system of moral principles, focusing on concepts of right and wrong conduct. Interpreters can face many ethical dilemmas on a daily basis with different responses being required for different situations. Is decision-making always black and white?
We work with a diverse range of people and settings, so must make on the job split-second decisions. As reflective practitioners, we may then wonder if we adhered to the tenets of the ASLIA Code of Ethics and other obligations? Was it a defendable decision?
When interpreting work situations gets tricky, find out what strategies practitioners adopt to make appropriate interpreting choices for the assignment. Come along to this practical Ethics World Café and try your hand at those everyday dilemmas that can arise.
You are invited to join facilitators, Kirri Dangerfield and Paul Heuston, and colleagues for a fun and interactive Professional Development day. This event will be followed shortly after by the ASLIA Victoria/ Tasmania AGM.
