  • NDIS – Navigating the Void

    $50.00 (member price: $25.00)

    NDIS – Navigating the Void

NDIS has been central in the Sign Language Interpreting and Translating space since 2013. Here we are a decade on and many of us still have questions regarding what best business practice is when working in the NDIS space as a Non-Registered Service Provider. Questions such as:

    • Do we need service agreements when working as a Non Registered Service Provider
    • Do I need service agreements with every person I interpret for?
    • Why are we consumables in the NDIS price guide?
    • Do I need to  keep notes on my interpreting jobs?
    • Can I be audited by NDIS and if so, what do I need to show them?
    • What are the proposed changes to the NDIS payment process?

We will be joined by Leigh McPherson Joshua Quinn for a discussion looking at the NDIS system and we can ensure we are well positioned for any changes that may be coming.

     Who this course is for:

Interpreters and translators looking to gain more insight into NDIS and our obligations when working within their framework. What should interpreters and translators be doing to meet NDIS standards and expectations?

    Presenters:

    Leigh McPherson

Leigh is the Founder and CEO of Live More Life PTY LTD, a support agency in Bundaberg, QLD, dedicated to assisting the Deaf and individuals with Neurological Disabilities. I also own Auslan Synergy, an interpreting services company, and serve as the CEO of The Good Life Community Services PTY LTD, which provides support coordinators fluent in Auslan.

With over 15 years of experience in the Deaf community, I have held various roles including:

    • Deaf Education
    • Providing interpreting services.
    • Offering forensic liaison support.

Leighs  involvement with the NDIS rollout began in 2016 in Bundaberg. During the early years, I played a crucial role in supporting the Deaf community’s transition to the NDIS, working closely with consultants, NDIA representatives, the commission, and local government to address the growing needs of interpreters within the NDIS framework.

As the CEO of a Deaf-aware business and interpreting service, I continue to collaborate with consultants and the Commission, striving to create a bridge for interpreters in the NDIS space and ensure the Deaf community receives full and appropriate access amid ongoing governmental changes.

Joshua Quinn, owner of WatykevSupports and QR consultancy

As an Audit Compliance Officer, NDIS Consultant, Policy and Procedures Builder, and NDIS Training Provider, I bring a comprehensive skillset to ensure regulatory adherence and organizational efficiency.

In my role as Audit Compliance Officer, I meticulously review internal and external records to verify compliance with applicable laws and standards. I assess risks, identify deficiencies, and develop action plans to mitigate non-compliance.

My commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and effective communication enables me to effectively execute my responsibilities. I am adept at identifying areas for improvement, developing proactive solutions, and fostering a culture of compliance within organizations.

Through my training programs, I empower NDIS providers and independents with the knowledge and skills they need to navigate the NDIS landscape, meet regulatory requirements, and provide high-quality services to participants.
